Scope of employment activities
- Possible to be employed in simple labor excluding restricted industries
- Those who want to work in a professional field should have qualifications stipulated in immigration control laws and related laws
Industries restricted from employment
Gambling business, entertainment bars, adult entertainment venues, sex trade, businesses prohibited from employing minors, private tutoring, etc.
Permission period
Up to one year within the period of stay
※ If the employment status changes when extended, re-apply for the permission of activity outside of qualification

2. Extra-status employment permission for refugee applicants
Target
Those who applied for refugee status and 6 months have passed
※ The period due to delays in submitting evidence, unknown whereabouts, protection, etc. due to the applicant's own fault is not included in the 6 months
Among those who applied for refugee recognition, those who have to support dependents who are unable to work due to illness or other similar reasons, and those who are considered particularly necessary by the director, etc.
Scope of employment activities
- Simple labor excluding restricted industries
- If you wish to work in a professional field such as a foreign language conversation instructor (E-2), the same documents and procedures as a general foreigner residing are required.
※ If a refugee applicant illegally works in a restricted industry, it will be treated as a crime, similar to a general foreigner.
Restricted areas of employment
Construction, gambling business, entertainment bars, adult entertainment venues, sex trade, private tutoring, etc.
Permission period
Refugee applicants who have not been decided within 6 months, and other refugee applicants with reasons

Those who have received humanitarian stay permits

3. Extra-status employment activity permission for humanitarian stayers
Target
Those who did not receive refugee recognition among those who received humanitarian stay permits, families of humanitarian stay permit holders (G-1-12), families of refugees (F-1-16)
Scope of employment activities
- Same as refugee applicants. However, employment in construction is possible.
※ If you want to work in construction, you need to receive an extra-status activity permit and complete 'foreign worker construction industry basic safety health education
- If you wish to work in a professional field such as a foreign language conversation instructor (E-2), the same documents and procedures as a general foreigner residing are required.

Grant of stay qualification

3. Domestic born minor child of a refugee applicant (G-1-5) (G-1-99)
Stay permit period
- Granted until the expiry date of the refugee applicant (G-1-5)

-The father or mother should be legally staying as an applicant (G-1-5)

Permission for change of status of stay (In case of changing status to G-1 visa)
1. Persons and their families undergoing treatment and claiming industrial accidents (G-1-1)

- Persons claiming or re-claiming industrial accident compensation
- Persons undergoing hospital treatment due to industrial accidents, those who are receiving treatment after receiving recuperation approval from the Labor Welfare Corporation, and those undergoing treatment for residual symptoms
- Family of industrial accident victims (spouse and direct family)

Within 1 year (until completion of hospital treatment and industrial accident compensation)

※ "Persons who have entered the country on a short-term visa (B-1, B-2, C-3) for health examinations, disease treatment, etc., and are recognized as needing long-term treatment or nursing based on examinations from medical institutions, are eligible to change their status to the foreign patient's stay qualification (G-1-10)."

3. Those undergoing various lawsuits (G-1-3)
Target
- Those undergoing various civil lawsuits such as damage claims due to industrial - accidents, return of lease money, etc.
- Those undergoing various criminal lawsuits such as those who are on trial for non-custodial investigations after detention is canceled
- Those who are on trial after receiving bail permission
- Those who have been released after custody review and are on trial
- Those who have received probation and are appealing
- Those who are undergoing various family and administrative lawsuits
Stay Permission Period
Stay period is within six months
Required documents

- Copy of the statement, certification of filing a lawsuit, copy of legal structure certificate, and other documents that can confirm the existence of the claim right
- Identity guarantee

4. Person under mediation at the Labor Office due to wage non-payment (G-1-4)
Eligibility
- Those who have filed a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor for unpaid wages and are currently under mediation
- Those who have filed a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor for unpaid wages but have not been resolved and are currently involved in a civil lawsuit
Stay Permit Period
Within the range of 6 months

- Copy of the complaint submitted to the Ministry of Employment and Labor

5. Refugee applicants (G-1-5) and Non-Recognition of Refugee status but granted humanitarian stay (G-1-6)
Eligibility
- Foreigners in the Republic of Korea who have applied for refugee recognition (G-1-5)
- Those received Non-Recognition of Refugee status but granted humanitarian stay (G-1-6)
Stay Permit Period
- Refugee applicants: within the range of 6 months to 1 year.
* However, the director can grant the stay period flexibly within 1 year considering the scheduled litigation period and other humanitarian reasons
- Those received Non-Recognition of Refugee status but granted humanitarian stay : 1 year from the date of notification

6. People who need humanitarian consideration for pregnancy, childbirth, etc. (G-1-9)
Eligibility
- Those who find it difficult to leave the country immediately due to pregnancy or childbirth

- 1 year

7. Foreign patients (G-1-10)
Eligibility
- Those who entered the country with B-1, B-2, C-3 (including C-3-3) qualifications, and were recognized as needing long-term treatment or nursing care due to medical examinations, etc.
- Accompanying family members and caregivers who need stay with the long-term treatment patient

- Within 1 year

- Opinion from a medical institution or other documents proving the need for long-term treatment

8. People who need humanitarian consideration, such as victims of sexual violence (G-1-11)
Eligibility
- Foreign residents who are under trial by a court, under investigation by an investigative agency, or undergoing other legal civil/criminal rights remedy procedures due to sexual violence, forced prostitution, habitual assault/abuse, serious crime damage, etc.
Stay Permit Period
1 year

9. People who meet other criteria (G-1-99)
Eligibility
- Domestic-born children who meet all of the following requirements from refugee applicants (G-1-5)
① The parent who is a refugee applicant (G-1-5) must be legally residing.
* However, if the refugee applicant (G-1-5) is under a departure extension, it does not apply
② The domestically born child must not have applied for refugee status and be under 17 years old.
* If the domestically born child has applied for refugee status, it does not apply

- Granted until the expiration of the stay of the refugee applicant (G-1-5)

1. People and their families who are claiming for industrial accidents and are in treatment

- In principle, within the range of 6 months for the period of stay (however, severe patients within the range of 1 year)

- Hospital diagnosis due to an industrial accident
- 'Medical Treatment Plan Review Decision Notice' (Industrial Accident Insurance Card), Aftereffects Service Card, etc. issued by the Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service

3. People involved in various lawsuits (G-1-3)

Length of Stay Permit
- G-1-4 qualification holders can extend their stay within a 6-month range
- Those who have been granted 'deferment of departure period' can extend their period within a 3-month range

5. Refugee applicants and non-recognized refugees among humanitarian stay permit holders
Length of Stay Permit
- Refugee applicants
The chief, etc. may extend the period of stay for the applicant within a range of 6 months to 1 year each time
* However, the chief, etc. can flexibly grant the period within the legal period (1 year) considering the expected period of performing a lawsuit, other humanitarian reasons, etc.
- Humanitarian Stay Permit Holders
The period of stay can be extended within the range of one year at a time until the reason for the permit disappears.

7. Foreign Patients
Eligibility
- Individuals staying under G1-10 status who require long-term stay due to prolonged treatment or recuperation period
- Spouses and other accompanying family members and caregivers, whose accompaniment is recognized as necessary for patients needing long-term stay
Length of Stay Permit
- Stay period can be extended within a range of 1 year

- Application form (Form No. 34), passport, foreigner registration card, fees
- Documents that can prove the necessity of long-term stay issued by medical institutions, such as an opinion letter, diagnosis, etc.
- Documents proving the ability to secure the cost of treatment and stay
※ If a sponsor or a guarantor guarantees the identity, submission can be omitted. However, proof of ability to secure the cost of treatment and stay can still be required from the inviting institution if they invited the foreign patient for the first time or if there are many illegal aliens among the invitees

※ Only applicable to spouses and family members who need to enter the country together, can be omitted if previously submitted

9. People who fall under other reasons (G-1-99)
Eligibility
- Domestic-born children of Refugee applicants (G-1-5) who meet all of the following conditions:
① One or both parents should be a refugee applicant (G-1-5) *legally staying.
* However, if the refugee applicant (G-1-5) is a deferred departure, they are not eligible.
② Domestic-born children should be under 17 and have not applied for refugee status.
* If the domestic-born child has applied for refugee status, they are not eligible.
Length of Stay Permit
- Until the expiration date of the stay of the refugee applicant (G-1-5)

* If there is no passport due to the specificity of the refugee application, a statement of reasons can be substituted.
