Today, we will explore the recently added Advanced Technology Internship (D-10-3).
Target for Advanced Technology Internship (D-10-3)
◆ Students enrolled in bachelor's degree or higher programs in advanced technology fields at exceptional overseas universities (only main campuses) or graduates whose degree was obtained within 3 years (under the age of 30 for bachelor's, under the age of 35 for master's and above), These individuals must have signed an internship contract with domestic companies or entities falling under the categories mentioned below.
※ Outstanding Overseas Universities: Universities ranked within the top 200 by Time or within the top 500 in QS World University Rankings.
- Domestic listed companies with advanced technology research facilities (dedicated research departments)
- Domestic companies with corporate research institutes or dedicated research and development departments according to Article 14-2 of the Basic Research Law
- Companies designated as advanced technology companies under Article 9 of the Special Act on Fostering Special R&D Zones
- Venture companies confirmed by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups under Article 25 of the Special Measures Act for the Promotion of Venture Companies
- National research institutes, specific research institutes, government-funded research institutes in science and technology fields
Restrictions
- Individuals who have received orders of departure due to violations of the Immigration Control Act or similar laws within the past 3 years, or those who have received a cumulative fine exceeding 2 million KRW from notifications or penalties.
- Individuals who have stayed with job-seeking status for more than 6 months within the past year as of the application date.
- Individuals who have applied for a change of status to D-10 three or more times within 3 years without complete departure.
- When the inviting company (institution) restricts employment of foreign nationals for general internships (D-101) or specialized professions in the E category.
- Companies (institutions) that have entered into internship labor contracts but do not meet the requirements for inviting advanced technology interns.
- When the number of invited advanced technology interns exceeds 20% of the national employment quota for the prospective internship company (institution).
※ National Employment Quota: Refers to individuals registered for over 3 months in the employment insurance roster, satisfying the minimum wage requirement, and, for venture companies, temporarily exempt from national employment requirements for the first 3 years.

2. Internship Activity Plan
3. Proof of Enrollment or Graduation (applies to advanced technology fields only) from a world-ranking university (within top 200 by Time or top 500 in QS World University Rankings)
※ Note: Proof of leave of absence will be considered, except if 1 year has elapsed since the leave.
※ Academic certificates will be accepted only if officially verified through the national verification process according to D-2 visa issuance and residence management guidelines.
4. Domestic Internship Contract
※ Must specify intern company, internship field (restricted to advanced technology), and internship period.
5. Inviting Company (Institution) Business Registration Certificate (or Business Registration Number), Corporate Register, Employment Insurance Roster, Research Facility Information
6. Documents proving eligibility to invite advanced technology interns (choose one)
- Documents proving the presence of advanced technology research facilities (dedicated research departments) for listed companies
- Documents confirming the presence of a corporate research institute or dedicated research and development department under Article 14-2 of the Basic Research Law
-Documents confirming designation as an advanced technology company under Article 9 of the Special Act on Fostering Special R&D Zones (Certificate of Designation as an Advanced Technology Company)
- Documents confirming the status as a venture company under Article 25 of the Special Measures Act for the Promotion of Venture Companies (Venture Company Certificate)
- Other documents verifying designation by a central administrative agency as an excellent corporate research institute
7. Proof of Financial Ability for Living Expenses (Equivalent to Proof of Financial Ability for Studying Abroad)
